Degrees of Separation Sumit Sarkar Open till November 25th
Degrees of Separation is an exhibition of digital prints by Sumit Sarkar and Apna Creatives
Sumit Sarkar (aka KrikSix) is a Manchester based digital artist, currently funded by the Arts Council of England to research and develop 3D printing, scanning and motion capture techniques, leading to Sevenesque III, an exhibition of digital sculptures, paintings and video.
The work at Sand Bar includes 2D digital prints from Sumit’s upcoming exhibition and recent canvasses inspired by typography and graffiti, and accompanies an exhibition at MMU Special Collections launching on the same night, where Sumit will be creating a digital 3D model live.
The work at MMU Special Collections draws inspiration from the children’s stories written by Noor Inayat Khan, the ‘Spy Princess’ who was killed during World War Two. Sumit has worked with Apna Creatives to research books and objects from the collections of MMU Special Collections, the Manchester Museum, the Gallery of Costume and The John Rylands Library. Inspired by their research, Sumit Sarker has created an exhibition of sculptures, made using 3D printing technology.
Apna Creatives is an ideas network linking people through creative experiences. Sourcing seed ideas from heritage and the contemporary world, Apna Creatives develop new commissions, workshops, special events and festivals, working cross art form (music, visual, film) over to cross platform (media, sound), for delivery within public and the digital realm.
